Meet the Team: Simo Bradley

We're thrilled to introduce our new Volunteer Coordinator, Simo!

I’m Simo, and I’m very excited to have started at the No.1 Befriending Agency in the role of Volunteer Coordinator. I’ll be working part-time three days a week, covering the North, West and East areas of Glasgow.

My journey in community development began back in 2012, when I started volunteering as a befriender for isolated older people in South Manchester. After volunteering for that project for a couple of years, I was offered the chance to work for the organisation, initially as a Project Worker, and later Project Coordinator. My experience on this project gave me a real passion for working with isolated older people, and seeing the real benefit that befriending can bring to their lives. I also gained a great deal of joy from supporting those volunteers who happily use their free time to support those around them. As such, when I saw a role advertised at No. 1, I didn’t hesitate to apply.

Simo Bradley, Volunteer Coordinator

My first couple of weeks here have been a whirlwind, quickly learning to understand all of the processes and ways of working at No.1. But what I have been immediately struck by is the culture of support and positivity here, and how much my colleagues genuinely care about the happiness and wellbeing of our service users and volunteers. I am looking forward to getting out into the community more and getting to know our service users and volunteers. It’s what the job is all about!
