Heritage Project Launch!

Heritage Project

On Thursday 14th of July, we launched our brand new Heritage Project “Every life is a Story”.  The launch was an immersive in-person event that allowed people to explore the main themes we will be focusing on throughout the project; Food and Drink, Living Space, Gardens, and Music.

Our event took place throughout our entire office space; each room focusing on a specific theme and its relation to heritage. People had the opportunity to explore these rooms as they pleased, taking time to reflect on what heritage means to them. In order to spark conversations between attendees, we had heritage-related questions that they could answer. Everyone could write down their answers on our Scottish postcards which we will use to create events going forward.

Rooms in photo order: Music, Food and Drink, Gardens, Living Space

Throughout the rooms, attendees could take part in a variety of activities. Our amazing volunteer Debbie helped people to draw their childhood bedroom in our “Living Spaces” room whilst in the “Garden Room”, service users had the opportunity to plant some basil and parsley. Our music room was decorated with records and CDs and was a great space for people to reminisce about what songs meant to them, as well as have the opportunity to listen to their favorite music.

To round off the evening, one of our regular volunteers, Tom the Poet, kindly recited some poetry. He provided the audience with two contrasting pieces about famous Garden landmarks in Scotland and we were immersed in the visual imagery of both of these locations.

Throughout the project, we will be working in partnership with the Moving Images Archive, provided by the National Library of Scotland, the Village Storytelling Centre, and Glasgow Life. We cannot wait to embark on this journey with you all to celebrate a diversity of heritage and are so pleased with the successful launch of this project!
